Dessie was fun-loving and always joyful. She loved her family and favorite past times included big family gatherings filled with fun and fellowship.
Dessie attended Lawndale Community Academy and Collins High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined LeClaire Baptist Church under the
late Rev. Lynch. Dessie continued her fellowship with other congregations and was confident that she was a child
of the King. So much so that she named herself Dessie "theGodinme" Ellebb. Regardless of life challenges, Dessie always reached towards
a stronger walk with God. Always working to press towards the mark and looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of her fate.
She married young at 18 years of age to Victor Winters. Dessie counted motherhood as her greatest life's work. Her four sons Victor, Brandon, Charles and Brian were her biggest joys and her greatest legacy.
Dessie moved to Lafayette, Indiana in 1995. She worked in nursing homes and group homes with adults and children. Her heart was in working with her young wards and some she would even bring home for visits with her sons.
Siblings, Juanita and Jesse, Jr. preceeded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: Parents Juanita (David) and Jesse Ellebb, siblings David Braggs III (Lolita); Kesha Braggs (Flint), Quiana Lewis, Corina Ellebb, Rochelle Macon, Jesse, Jamie and Jermaine; Sons Victor Winters, Brandon Winters, Charles Lusk, Brian Lusk; a special friend, Timothy Reynolds and a host of other family and friends.
