Earnest D. Houston

Earnest D. Houston was born on February 3, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Savannah and Willie Dae Houston Sr.  Earnest attended Hendrick and Parkman Elementary Schools. He went on to attend Tilden Tech High School. Earnest was the second oldest of four siblings. He always looked up to his big brother Willie Jr. “Tiny”. Earnest had two younger siblings Diann and Larry, who he made sure he looked after. He was always with one of his brothers whenever you saw him. Earnest family would always call him “Buzzard”, a nickname given to him by his aunt.

Earnest had many different careers over his lifetime. Earnest was a welder, carpenter, painter, and he worked security. Earnest was a jack of all trades! Earnest received many awards for his different endeavors. He was always a call away when someone ever needed help. He helped everyone whenever he could. Earnest was always a jokester. He would have everyone laughing without even trying. One thing about Earnest he was always neat and clean. Earnest loved eating breakfast every morning, and his favorite meal was meatloaf.

He was a loving person, and Earnest was always honest! He was going to tell you how he felt no matter what. After Earnest told you how he felt, he would then turn to you and laugh. Some in the family would call him a doctor because at family events he would come, and twenty minutes later say “I have to go.”  When everyone knew, Earnest was only leaving to watch some type of horror movie.

Earnest was preceded in death by his mother and father Savannah and Willie Dae Houston Sr.  His brothers, Willie Dae Houston Jr. and Larry Houston. His children Shamar, Banita, Rashard “Shorty”.

Earnest will be missed but his memories will live on through his family and friends.  Earnest leaves his beloved sister Diann, who was there with him all the way to the end.  He leaves to celebrate his life his life-long friend Regenia, Daughters: Marquella (Steve), Savannah (Berry), Renisha (Derrick), Iyesha, Ishmaella (DeShawn), Rasheedah, and Leesha. Son: Raheem. Grandchildren: Steve, DeAngelo, RaQuimah, Berry Jr, Brycen, Bria’Rashard, Bella Rose, Byshere. Nieces and Nephew: Charletta, Jesse, and Zakiya.  His close friend: Mac.  A host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
