On January 21, 1952, Ressie and George Wright was blessed with a beautiful baby, and named her Ressie Eileen. They had no way of knowing the joy this child would bring to them as well as countless others.
Ressie grew up in Robbins, IL attending Lincoln Elementary School and Kellar Junior High. She attended Southwest High School before relocating to Freeport, IL and graduating from Freeport High School in 1970.
Ressie was gainfully employed with Burgess Battery in Freeport for many years. She took pride in working and obtained various jobs throughout her life.
Ressie married William Murchison in 1980, and to this union, one daughter, Cortney Renee' was born.
Ressie became affiliated with Progressive C.O.G.I.C. in Maywood under the leadership of Pastor James B. Alford and continued attending under the leadership of Apostle Donald L. Alford. She then went to be lend her gifts to God's Heritage Full Gospel Church in Maywood, IL, under the leadership of Elder James C. Williams. She loved her church family dearly and she served faithfully until her health declined.
Ressie had many gifts and talents. She was an accomplished pianist, and would flawlessly play classical pieces for her church, friends and family. She was an outstanding organizer and because of this, she coordinated many weddings and church events. In addition, she could write beautiful calligraphy, and could fry the best fried chicken.
One of Ressie's favorite things to do was travel with her family. She organized many trips, and traveled to many places throughout the world. She was blessed to visit various places throughout Europe including: France, Italy, Rome, Germany Greece, Turkey London, Spain, and Belgium. She also enjoyed many cruises that sailed throughout the Caribbean and other exotic places.
tremendous sense of humor and a laugh that was infectious. She never met a stranger, and made a lasting impression on everyone in which she came in contact.
After a courageous fight with an illness, Ressie made her transition on the morning of Apri19, 2019.
Ressie leaves to cherish her fond memories to her beloved daughter, Coring)) Renee': her four sisters, Joyce Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Doreen (Spencer) Gillespie of Bellwood, IL, Doris (Richard) Williams of Robbins, IL, and Charlotte Smith of Westchester, IL; her nieces, she fondly called the C's: Chiquita, Chantina, Crystal, and Chaliese, and the D's: DeAnn, Denise, Doris, and Damita, her nephews: Joseph, Darrell, and Marvin; her grand nieces and nephews, along with a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
