Rick Harris was born March 6,1954 in Livingston, Alabama to Louise Harris Hines. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1972 and loved football. Rick was a well-known Oakland Raiders fan (RAIDERNATION).
He confessed Christ at an early age and was united with the First Baptist Church in Livingston, Alabama under the leadership of Dr. M.C. Thomas. Later in life, Rick became a member of New Life Covenant Church under the leadership of Pastor John F. Hannah. On January 26,1980, Rick was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Jones. From this union there is one son- Rodrick.
Rick began working for the Chicago Transit Union Local 308 on April 14, 1981. There, he served as a member of the Executive Board for the Shops until 1996, where he worked as a Car Serviceman and Car Repairman. Rick was appointed as both 2nd Vice President and 1st Vice President of Local 308, and in addition, he served as President until 2008. He retired from the Chicago Transit Authority on February 1, 2009.
He departed this life on October 3, 2019 at 10:43 a.m. Rick leaves his wife Carolyn, his mom, Louise Harris Hines, sister, Coretta Bibbs, son Rodrick, adopted daughter Shawntell, grandson Rodrick Jr., granddaughter Jacaiyh, 2 adopted grandsons Tarron, Jamar, 1 adopted granddaughter Jasselle, mother-in-law Ruth Jones, sister-in-law Eunice, and Brother-in laws Bernard (Marcia), Alvin (Judith), Michael, plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by many.
